Tang Seng Choon is the Head of Audit & Assurance, Partner at BDO in Malaysia. He has more than thirty-nine (39) years of working experience in the accounting profession. He was also one of the pioneers that set up BDO Cambodia Limited.

He manages a portfolio of listed and non-listed statutory audit clients and special assignments in Malaysia, which includes the preparation of accountant’s report and review of proforma financial information for submission to the relevant authorities for IPOs and bond issuances.

He has experience in the audits of various industries, which include plantation (cultivation of oil palm, processing of palm oil, downstream refining of palm oil and processing of refined palm oil into oleo chemicals and specialty oils and fats), property development, gaming and leisure, manufacturing, trading & retailing, consumer markets, industrial products, oil and gas operations (both upstream and downstream including petrochemical) and healthcare.

Seng Choon is the Audit and Accounting Coordinator of BDO in Malaysia and appointed as a member of the BDO International Scalability Committee for Catalyst.

He is a Chartered Accountant and was a Council Member of Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA) until 2024. During his tenure as the Council Member of MIA, he was the Chairman of the Investigation Committee (IC) as well as a member of the Integrated Reporting Steering Committee (IRSC), Public Practice Committee (PPC), and Capital Market Advisory Committee (CMAC).

Seng Choon has also been appointed as the Chairman of National Annual Corporate Reports Awards (NACRA) Adjudication Committee and a member of its Organising Committee in 2024. In addition, he has been appointed as a working member of the Sustainability Assurance Working Group (SAWG), starting in January 2025.

He is also a member of Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) Corporate Practice Consultative Forum (CPCF) Technical Committee and Interview Panel for Approved Company Auditors.

Under Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Seng Choon is a Council Member and the Chairman of the Accounting and Auditing Technical Committee (AATC). He is also a member of the Public Practice Committee (PPC), Financial Statements Review Committee (FSRC) and Education and Training Committee (ETC) as well as MICPA’s representative in Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) MFRS Application and Implementation Committee (MAIC) as an observer.

Seng Choon is a member of MASB's Working Group (WG) for Improvements on MFRS Standards, WG 71 Sustainability Reporting, and MASB Interpretations Committee (IC) and has been actively participating in local deliberations on financial reporting matters involving the MASB.

Seng Choon has working experience in the Unites States of America, Hong Kong, Kingdom of Cambodia, and People’s Republic of China.
